Report: Harry Redknapp linked with a return to management

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp could be set for a return to management after being linked with the Nigerian international post, according to a report by The Daily Star.

Current Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr will be out of contract at the end of the month and there are said to be major doubts over whether the German will continue in the role.

The Nigerian Football Federation are said to be on the lookout for a replacement, with a source from within the team telling the Daily Star that Redknapp could be in line to take up the job.

It is revealed that the former Tottenham boss did have discussions over becoming the Super Eagles boss in 2016 only for negotiations break down.

However, it is said that the Nigerian authorities are hopeful of completing the deal for the 73-year-old.

Redknapp has never managed at international level and was heavily linked with the England job during his last season at Spurs (BBC).

However, the FA opted to hand the job to Roy Hodgson instead of the former Spurs man back in 2012.

Nigeria have an extremely talented squad and so it could be a brilliant job for Harry Redknapp to take. Additionally, given that many of their players play in the Premier League and the other top leagues in Europe, it would be relatively easy for the former Spurs boss to keep an eye on their performances.
