Report: Heavily-linked Mourinho replacement could arrive at Spurs before end of season

According to a report by The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur hope to hire Julian Nagelsmann before the end of the season.

Multiple sources (The Guardian and The Daily Mail) have revealed that Nagelsmann is Tottenham’s number one target to replace Jose Mourinho but that the North London club are fearful that the RB Leipzig boss could be poached by Bayern Munich.

The Sun has claimed that Tottenham are not wasting any time in their pursuit of the German coach and believe that they could bring him to the club before the end of the season despite the fact that he still has two years left on his contract at the Red Bull Arena.

Although Ryan Mason has been appointed as the interim head coach until the end of the season, it is revealed that the club have not told Mason and his team they will definitely remain in charge for the duration of the campaign.

The report adds that Spurs are hopeful of beating Bayern to Nagelsmann’s signature with the 33-year-old keen to manage in the Premier League.

I believe one of the main reasons that Levy decided to pull the plug on Mourinho quicker than many would have anticipated, is because he wanted to give Spurs the best chance of bringing in Nagelsmann. It remains to be seen if he would pick Tottenham ahead of Bayern but I expect that Levy would have already made contact with the German coach’s representatives over a potential move.
