Report: Heung-min Son dislocated his finger in a teammate bust-up while away from Spurs

The Sun have revealed that Son Heung-min dislocated his finger in a bust-up with some of his South Korean teammates on the eve of their Asian Cup exit.

The Koreans were dumped out of the tournament by Jordon in the semi-final stage, with Son and his teammates understandably heartbroken at the loss.

The Tottenham man apologised to the supporters following their elimination and took to Instagram to state that he himself should have done more as captain to ensure that the Taegeuk Warriors went all the way in the tournament.

That even led to rumours of the 31-year-old potentially calling time on his international career but those suggestions were quickly quashed by manager Jurgen Klinsmann (Football.London).

Son involved in an altercation on South Korea duty

It has now emerged that all was not well in the Korean camp leading up to their all-important semi-final clash.

The Sun revealed that a younger contingent from the squad finished dinner early in the preceding evening so that they could play some ping pong.

However, this allegedly did not go down well with Son, who wanted to use the meal as an opportunity for the squad to bond together.

The report explains that after an exchange of words, an altercation broke out among the players, with the Tottenham man left with a dislocated finger as a result.

The outlet quotes one source as saying: “The row erupted from nowhere. A few of the younger players ate very quickly and left the rest of the squad to play ping pong

“Son asked them to come back and sit down when some disrespectful things were said to him. Within seconds players the row spilled into the dining area and players were being pulled apart. Son badly injured his finger trying to calm everyone down.”

If there is truth to this report and an altercation did occur, it would be very out of character for Sonny to have been the instigator. He would have likely been the one who tried to stop the commotion.
