Report highlights the two positions which Jose Mourinho wants to strengthen

According to Sky Sports, Jose Mourinho wants to bring in a centre-back and a defensive midfielder to the club.

Mourinho said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Leeds that he does not expect the club to bring in any new players this month after investing significantly in the summer.

Tottenham were one of the busiest clubs during the previous transfer window, making seven new signings in the form of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Carlos Vinicius and Joe Rodon.

However, Sky Sports suggest that Mourinho is keen to add to his side, but remains to be seen whether it will be during the current window.

It is claimed that Tottenham will listen to offers for Danny Rose and Paulo Gazzaniga, while there still many question marks over Dele Alli’s future.

This report ties in with Dan Kilpatrick’s report from earlier this week, where he claimed something similar. It appears as if our ability to strengthen the squad depends on whether or not we can raise funds by selling some of our fringe players. However, a permanent deal for Dele Alli would be difficult to do in January and I suspect a loan deal is far more likely.
