Report: Midfielder signs new deal and Pochettino is to thank for it

Tottenham Hotspur have a number of highly-rated academy prospects within their ranks at the moment, with a number of them already having experience around the first team.

Obviously, Oliver Skipp has been a fringe first-team player for some time now, with the likes of Troy Parrott and Japhet Tanganga also both making their full debuts this season.

However, Jamie Bowden is also a very talked-about talent in North London, with the 18-year-old having just signed a new contract with the Lilywhites.

A report from Football Insider claims that ex-Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino, had a big part to play in Bowden’s new deal at the club.

Pochettino was said to be a big admirer of the teenager, and believed that he could break into the first team and establish himself as Harry Winks has done.

Poch invited Bowden to travel to the away Man City game in the Champions League last season, as well as join in with the celebrations. He even invited him to the pre-season tour of Asia this year.

Football Insider believe these decisions played a key part in the club offering Bowden a new deal.
