Report: Hojbjerg and Mourinho recommended Spurs sign this winger

According to Spanish publication AS, Tottenham Hotspur are one of several clubs around Europe who are interested in Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgard.

Damsgaard has improved considerably since arriving in Italian football in January of last year and has established himself as a key player for Sampdoria this campaign.

It was reported back in February that Tottenham and Juventus were both ‘crazy’ about the tricky wide man and have already enquired about his availability.

ClubDoria46 revealed a few weeks ago that Sampdoria value the 20-year-old at €20m (£17.1m).

AS now explain that Damsgard was recommended to the Spurs hierarchy by his Denmark international teammate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho.

However, it is revealed that the North Londoners could face plenty of competition for the player’s signature this summer.

The report claims that Inter Milan, Juventus Roma have already asked Sampdoria about the conditions for the winger’s transfer while the youngster is also on Leicester’s shopping list.

Sampdoria are said to be in no hurry to part ways with Damsgaard, whose contract runs till 2022, and will only sell him if they receive ‘an exorbitant offer’ this summer.
