Report: Host of clubs in England have their eye on Spurs 22-year-old

ESPN have revealed that Djed Spence is attracting plenty of interest ahead of the January transfer window.

Spence has not started a single game for Tottenham since his move from Middlesbrough in the summer, coming on as a substitute for all four of his appearances this season (Transfermarkt).

It remains to be seen whether his fate will be different in the second part of the campaign, with the North London club expected to sign another right wing-back in January (90 min).

There have been contradictory reports regarding Spence’s future at Tottenham over couple of weeks.

Alasdair Gold said on his YouTube channel earlier this month there has been no indication from anyone at Tottenham to the England Under-21 international’s entourage that they are planning on loaning him out.

However, The Times reported on Thursday that the 22-year-old is one of three players Spurs are expected to offload in January.

ESPN have now backed up The Times’ claim by stating that Spence could be loaned out by Spurs next month. The report asserts that a whole host of Premier League and Championship clubs have expressed an interest in signing the right-back on a temporary deal.

If Tottenham do end up signing a new right wing-back such as Pedro Porro, it would make sense to sell Emerson, loan out Spence and keep Doherty as a backup. If Conte does not believe Spence is ready to be a regular at Spurs, then it would be ideal for the youngster’s development to get game time at another Premier League club.
