Report: How Brighton are feeling about cashing in on Spurs-linked Trossard

According to sources at talkSPORT, Brighton may be tempted to cash in on Leandro Trossard should a club make a big offer for him.

Trossard has been enjoying a fantastic season for Brighton so far this year, with seven goals and three assists already this term (Transfermarkt).

His form has caught the attention of Tottenham and it’s been reported that the club has already made verbal contact with Brighton about a move, albeit unsuccessfully (FootballInsider).

The Belgium winger’s current deal is set to expire in 2024 (Transfermarkt) and Brighton are now facing a situation where they must decide if to cash in or risk losing their star man for free in 18 months.

The Daily Mail claimed yesterday that if Trossard is to move in the January transfer window, we should not expect to see anything occur until later in the month.

Whether any move happens or not at all remains to be seen, but the latest development suggests Brighton may be more amiable to the idea of selling Trossard. However, by the sounds of it, it would take a big offer to force their hand at this stage.

In a tweet from talkSPORT, it is stated that “Belgium star Trossard is under contract until 2024 but the south coast side could be tempted to cash in for a big fee.”

Exactly how big that fee would need to be is unclear at this moment in time, but with Trossard’s contract situation the way it is, one would imagine the Seagulls would struggle to command anything huge.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be very curious to know how much we could grab Trossard for this month. He could be a perfect addition to our front line, and the fact he is not cup-tied in Europe is a big plus too given we have the knockout stages of the Champions League to come.
