Report: How Bryan Gil shone for Valencia despite heavy Barcelona defeat

Despite Valencia falling to a heavy defeat against Barcelona on Sunday, on-loan Spurs star Bryan Gil was one of the few shining lights for Los Che.

Gil has received rave reviews for the impact he has made at the Mestalla since his deadline day loan move from Spurs.

Journalist Maite Jimenez claimed on Spanish publication Sport last week that the winger has already won the Valencia fans over, asserting that the 21-year-old has restored their faith in the team.

According to reports, Valencia have been so impressed by the Spain international that they are already ready to open talks with Spurs overextending his loan into next season (Cadena SER).

It did not prove to be a memorable outing for Jose Bordalas’ side on Sunday as they were thrashed 4-1 by Barcelona, with former Arsenal man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netting a hattrick.

However, Gil was one of the bright sparks for Valencia, with Who Scored giving the Tottenham man a rating of 6.9 – the second-highest of any Los Che player.

It is revealed that the winger made three tackles and three key passes in the match – more than any other player on the pitch. He also claimed the assist for Valencia’s goal with a lovely cross from the left-wing.

Gil’s impressive performances since joining Valencia are not all that surprising, given how well he did on-loan at Eibar last season. I would love to see him being loaned out to a Premier League club next season so that he can adapt to the demands of English football.
