Report: How Luis Campos played a key role in Joao Sacramento’s move to Spurs

According to reports in the press, Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho is keen for Lille’s sporting director Luis Campos to join him at Tottenham (The Guardian).

While Jose Mourinho played down rumours of Campos joining Spurs, there is now a growing feeling that the 55-year-old could swap the Ligue 1 club for Tottenham at the end of the season (The Daily Mail).

The Times have revealed that Campos had a key role to play in Mourinho’s new assistant Joao Sacramento’s move from Lille to Spurs.

The report discusses how it was Campos who originally bought Mourinho’s attention to Sacramento when the latter – then aged just 19 – wrote a report on the Portuguese manager’s work whilst studying at the University of Glamorgan.

It is claimed that Campos arranged a meeting between Mourinho and Sacramento last year. During the meeting, it is revealed that Mourinho was essentially interviewing Sacramento to become his new right-hand man ahead of his next role.

It is interesting that Campos would enable Sacramento’s move to Spurs even though losing him would be a blow to Lille. Perhaps that is an indication that Campos sees himself linking up with the pair at Tottenham. That would certainly be a brilliant move for the club given Campos’ expertise on the French market.
