Report: How Man United responded to Eric Dier’s £50m price tag

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be on the lookout for a central midfielder to replace Mousa Dembele this summer transfer window.

The BBC reported that Spurs put in a £53m bid for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso earlier this month, while Sky Sports say the club are in talks with Lyon over Ndombele.

So, what will happen to the central midfielders already at Tottenham, with the likes of Harry Winks, Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama, Moussa Sissoko, Oliver Skipp, and Luke Amos all hoping for chances next season.

It was reported by David Ornstein on BBC Radio 5 Live that Tottenham are open to selling Eric Dier this summer, if the offer is good.

However, it has also now come out that Tottenham were open to selling Dier back in 2017 too, even putting a £50m price tag on his head amidst interest from Man United (Express).

It is said that United responded to this valuation by bidding just £22.5m, an offer that Spurs unsurprisingly turned down.

Should Spurs sell Dier this transfer window?

Spurs Web Opinion:

If a bid of £40m came in for Dier, I would leap at the chance to sell him. I don’t rate him anywhere near as highly as I did two years ago, and doubt whether he can reach the heights we once thought he could.
