Report: How much Hojbjerg will be paid at Spurs in transfer said to be worth £45m

Football Insider report that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has agreed on a five-year contract worth around £100,000-a-week with Tottenham ahead of an imminent transfer.

After months of heavy speculation, multiple reports now indicate that Tottenham have reached an agreement with Southampton for the midfielder’s transfer (Fabrizio Romano).

Football Insider claim that Tottenham will initially pay £15million for the 25-year-old, with an addition £4m in performance-related add-ons.

Apart from handing the Denmark international singing a bumper contract, it is revealed that the Lilywhites will also hand him a multi-million-pound signing-on fee.

The report claims that Hojbjerg’s contract, along with the signing on fee, Southampton’s fees, and add-ons will together set Tottenham back by around £45m over the duration of the deal.

It is asserted that the Saints originally quoted Tottenham a price for £25m when they made an approach for the midfielder in January.

However, with the former Bayern Munich man refusing to extend his stay at St Mary’s, it is said that the club decided to soften their stance.

Spurs Web Opinion

The decision to loan Kyle Walker-Peters out to Southampton in January seems like it could potentially end up saving us millions in the Hojbjerg deal, with reports indicating that Spurs are only paying a few million on top of the right-back’s price. It looks like Hojbjerg will come in before the start of pre-season, which is a big bonus.
