Report: How much Lucas Bergvall will earn at Tottenham next season

Tottenham Hotspur will pay Lucas Bergvall a salary of around £1.6m per year when he joins the club in the summer, which is almost £300,000 more than initially expected.

In one of the surprise moves of the January transfer window, Tottenham bagged one of the brightest young talents in Europe when they beat Barcelona to the signing of Lucas Bergvall.

The Swedish wonderkid signed for the Lilywhites in a deal worth a reported £8.6m (Football.London). It is thought the youngster will immediately become part of Ange Postecoglou‘s first-team squad next season (Football Insider).

It has been suggested by Matteo Moretto previously that Spurs offered Bergvall more money to join them, and that could be the reason he chose to move to North London rather than Barcelona. However, Djurgardens sporting director, Peter Kisfaludy, has rubbished that claim (Aftonbladet).

How much is Lucas Bergvall being paid at Spurs?

According to a report from Fotboll Direkt back in February, it was suggested that Spurs were going to pay Bergvall around 18m SEK a year, which equates to £1.32m per year.

However, the same outlet has now updated their figures, and claims it could be closer to 22m SEK a year, which equates to £1.6m annually for the 18-year-old.

Described as a “dream contract” for the youngster, who will earn “enormous money” on any scale, but especially given his age.

Working out at just over £30,000 per week, that will put Bergvall ahead of fellow youngsters like Alejo Veliz, who is thought to earn around £25,000 per week. You can continue the comparisons by checking out our guide to how much each Spurs player earns.
