Report: How much Marine FC stand to earn from the FA Cup tie against Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur’s clash against FC Marine is undoubtedly the tie to look out for in the FA Cup Third Round.

There has never been a bigger gulf between two sides at this stage of the competition, with Spurs currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table and Marine in 9th place in the Northern Premier League Division One North West, the eighth-tier of English football.

The two sides are separated by 168 places in the English pyramid, with this being only the second occasion that a side from the eighth tier has reached the third round.

The Daily Mail report that Marine, who are named after a local pub, have already earned handsomely from their dream FA Cup run, having generated £150,000 so far.

They will now earn an additional £75,000 on the back of their clash against Spurs being chosen for broadcast on BBC One on January 10.

This will come as a big boost to the non-league club, given that clubs like Marine in the lower end of the footballing pyramid have been especially hit by the financial impact of COVID-19.
