The Telegraph have reported that Harry Kane and Eric Dier would each receive a bonus of over £400,000 if England win the World Cup later this month.
The England squad reportedly have a schedule of bonuses that increases with each passing round, but going all the way and bringing the trophy home would net between £400,000 and £450,000 plus further endorsements and sponsorships.
Of course, the Three Lions are not playing in Qatar to cash a cheque, as the payments fall short of the kind of levels many of them receive week-in-week-out in the Premier League. The squad will instead be hoping to lift the World Cup for the first time since 1966.
Harry Kane and co have a lot of football to play before a potential final though, starting with a Round of 16 clash against Senegal later this evening, followed by a possible quarter-final against either France or Poland.
Spurs Web Opinion:
I’m sure each and every member of the England squad would pay £400,000 and more to lift the World Cup, so the money will not be on their mind. But it’s definitely a healthy pay day – presumably for charity if the Three Lions bring the trophy home.
