Wilson Odobert joined Tottenham Hotspur this morning

The club confirmed the arrival of Wilson Odobert in a deal from Burnley which has seen the 19-year-old signed a contract until the summer of 2029.

All of the well-connected Tottenham journalists and insiders certainly did not get wind of Odobert’s imminent arrival with Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri the first to break the news of the deal.

Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has taken to X to share details of his understanding of the transfer fee which Spurs have paid to secure the services of the 19-year-old.

Gold has claimed that Spurs have paid a £25million fee which includes a further £5m in potential add-ons.

Spurs have paid £25m + £5m in add-ons for Wilson Odobert

Odobert scored five goals in 34 appearances for Burnley last season and was on target in their 4-1 win at Luton Town in their first game back in the Championship last weekend.

£31.5m is quite a hefty fee, yet still some distance away from the £54m which Chelsea paid Wolves to land Pedro Neto (BBC).

The signature of Odobert looks set to have further impact on one current Tottenham player, Manor Solomon, who is likely to fall further down in Ange Postecoglou’s pecking order.

The Israeli international has not played a competitive fixture for Tottenham over the past 11 months after a serious knee injury sustained early last season.

Solomon joined Spurs on a free transfer last July, utilising a FIFA ruling that allows foreign players in Russia and Ukraine to suspend their contracts unilaterally due to the war in the region which has resulted in Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Sergei Palkin threatening legal action against the North Londoners (ESPN).
