A number of outlets over the past few weeks have backed Tottenham to make a move for Eze when the transfer window opens.

This includes an update by Football Transfers at the start of this month, which claimed that the attacking midfielder has a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ in place with the Eagles that allows him to leave the club this summer.

The report further added that Tottenham are in the ‘driver’s seat’ to land the England international and are expected to start talks over a deal soon.

A few days ago, The Athletic handed Tottenham a potential boost in their pursuit of the versatile attacker by revealing that the Palace star’s contract contains a release clause.

Eberechi Eze will cost £68m for Spurs this summer

This information has now been backed up by The Mail, who say that the clause in Eze’s contract is worth a minimum of £60m and it is also thought to include add-ons worth in the region of £8m.

The report says that there is ‘genuine interest’ in the 25-year-old from a number of Premier League sides, including Tottenham.

The publication adds that should the attacking midfielder excel at the Euros, Palace are likely to face a major battle on their hands to keep hold of him this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot see Tottenham meeting Eze’s clause this summer. I doubt Spurs would be willing to spend more than £50m or so on the Palace star as I do not see him as an option for the wide areas in Ange Postecoglou’s system.
