Report: How Oliver Skipp is feeling about injury after Conte medical team comments

The Guardian have reported that Oliver Skipp shares Antonio Conte’s frustration about his injury, but he does not blame the Tottenham medical department in any way.

Skipp has missed the last seven matches across all competitions for Tottenham, a time in which the North Londoners have struggled for consistency (TransferMarkt).

The youngster became an integral part of the starting XI under Nuno Espirito Santo following a successful loan spell at Norwich City in the Championship last year.

The midfielder then continued that form into Conte’s tenure and became a trusted member of the Italian’s squad before picking up a groin problem.

Conte revealed in his press conference this week that Skipp would miss the Everton game on Monday, before seemingly taking a dig at his own medical department for not being transparent in their communication.

He said (Guardian): “Oliver Skipp, it is a pity. In England, I think that sometimes you should have a [press] conference with the medical department.

“It is too easy for the doctors to work here because they don’t speak, they don’t explain what happens, you understand? Sometimes I think that could be good … if, in two weeks … to have a good press conference with the medical department to explain about the situation that they are trying to take care of their players.

“Skipp is not ready. He’s having this problem with groin pain. He is fighting. He could recover before but maybe something was wrong. And now we have to wait.”

However, it appears Skipp himself does not share the same frustration at the medical team and is merely itching to get back and play for Tottenham again.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It is no coincidence that Spurs have lost consistency just as Skipp picks up an injury. They have missed his energy and tenacity in the middle of the pitch in recent matches and it will be interesting to see if he can partner new signing, Rodrigo Bentancur.
