The Daily Mail have revealed that Mauricio Pochettino’s impending arrival at Chelsea might have increased the chances of Harry Kane moving to Manchester United this summer.
Man Utd’s interest in Kane has been well-documented but the Red Devils are not expected to have things their own way in the pursuit of the Tottenham star.
In fact, Sky Sports reported earlier this week that Daniel Levy will not put the striker up for sale irrespective of whether he signs a new deal or not.
With United not keen on a tug-of-war with the Spurs chairman, it was explained that Kane himself would have to push if he wants to move to Old Trafford.
However, The Mail have now asserted that Pochettino taking over as Chelsea’s head coach might complicate Tottenham’s plans.
While it is asserted that Kane’s chances of moving to Chelsea are remote, Spurs are aware of the 29-year-old’s relationship with Pochettino, with the Argentine said to be keen on reuniting with the striker.
If the England captain does not sign a new contract at Tottenham this summer, it is said that there is a chance he might reunite with his former manager at Stamford Bridge in 2024 after his contract at N17 runs out.
So, The Mail claim that Spurs might be faced with the choice of accepting £100m for Kane this summer or risk losing him moving to Chelsea 12 months later.
Spurs Web Opinion
This report by the Mail is a massive stretch to say the very least.
Whatever Tottenham and Levy decide to do with Kane this summer, their decision would not be informed by the fear of the striker joining Chelsea on a free transfer in 2024.
The England captain most certainly would not join the Blues as he would be aware that it would destroy his Spurs legacy.
