Report: How Pochettino persuaded Ndombele to join in secret meeting

Tottenham Hotspur finally announced the signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon yesterday and for a club record fee no less.

Spurs reportedly agreed an initial price of £53.8m for the midfield powerhouse, but this value could rise to £62.8m if all add-ons are met (BBC).

While Mauricio Pochettino revealed last week that he does not have the final say in any transfers made by the club, with Daniel Levy retaining that power (Sky Sports), it seems as if the Argentine played a big part in getting this deal over the line.

The Sun reported that Pochettino himself gave Ndombele a tour around the Hotspur Way facilities last week.

However, The Metro have now revealed that the Argentine gaffer also held a secret meeting with the Frenchman, persuading him to join by saying: ‘Yes, it will be hard but I want to keep the Tanguy that you are. The Tanguy that projects, which breaks lines.’

The Daily Mail add that Poch wants Ndombele to improve his final pass.
