Football.London have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now right at the limit of 17 non-homegrown players ahead of submitting their final 25-man Premier League squad today.
Tottenham and the other 19 clubs in the Premier League are expected to submit their official 25-man squad by 2 pm today, with a total of 17 non-homegrown players allowed among those 25 names.
Each club can also name an unlimited number of Under-21 players, which means Destiny Udogie, Pape Matar Sarr, Ashley Phillips and Alejo Veliz will not be taking up spots on the 25-man list.
Tottenham are ready to name Premier League squad
Football.London have now explained that following the departures of Davinson Sanchez and Tanguy Ndombele to Galatasaray, Spurs now have exactly 17 non-homegrown players at their disposal.
This means that Ange Postecoglou can name Hugo Lloris in his Premier League squad if he so desires.
However, the Australian has indicated that the Frenchman is not likely to be named in the squad, remarking a couple of weeks ago that it would not make sense to name three senior goalkeepers in the list (CaughtOffside).
Spurs Web Opinion
If Lloris is not named in the 25-man squad, that would perhaps serve as confirmation that Tottenham are indeed planning on terminating the year left in their former captain’s contract, thus allowing him to leave on a free transfer.
