Report: How Spurs trio Bryan Gil, Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett got on this week

Bryan Gil picked up an assist as Sevilla emerged 2-0 winners in their away game at Cadiz on Saturday.

The international break did not go according to plan for Gil, who returned to Sevilla without kicking a ball after feeling some discomfort in training.

However, the winger was fit to start for Sevilla on Saturday in what was Jose Luis Mendilibar’s first game in charge of the club and he produced an excellent display.

Gil was a constant threat down the left side for his 76 minutes on the pitch and he helped seal the win on 73 minutes as he played a cushioned pass from a long ball into the path of Youssef En-Nesyri, who doubled the away side’s lead.

That takes the winger’s tally to three goal contributions (two goals and an assist) in 11 La Liga appearances since his loan switch to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium in January.

Meanwhile, Troy Parrott got 67 minutes under his belt as Preston beat Blackpool 3-1 at home on Saturday, with Lancashire Live giving the striker a rating of 7/10.

The publication wrote about the 21-year-old’s display: “A couple of loose moments but a committed shift from the Irishman and had a few openings in the final third.

“Wanted the ball and always tried to present an option to his teammates. Lacked that final piece of decision making.”

Football.London reveal that Dane Scarlett, Tanguy Ndombele, and Giovani Lo Celso had cameos off the bench after coming on as late substitutes for Portsmouth, Napoli and Villarreal respectively, while Djed Spence and Joe Rodon were unused substitutes for Rennes in their 1-0 loss to Lens.

Spurs Web Opinion

Gil seems to be growing in confidence with each start for Sevilla and the winger might end up being one of the biggest beneficiaries of Conte’s departure at Spurs.

Now that the Italian is no longer at the helm, perhaps, the 22-year-old would be motivated to make an impression at Spurs during pre-season.
