Report: How the rules work for Spurs if they have Lo Celso and Fernandes on loan

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to sign Benfica midfielder, Gedson Fernandes, on loan for the next 18-months, with the player expected to finalise the deal in the next 24-hours (Sky Sports).

Sky Sports claim that Spurs will have an option to buy the player in 2021 after the loan spell ends for a fee of £56m, although they will also have to pay a loan fee.

Football London have now claimed that some fans are wondering exactly how the loan rules work and whether Spurs can bring in multiple players on a temporary basis.

Spurs already have Giovani Lo Celso on loan for the season from Real Betis, but how many temporary players are the North London club allowed?

While some fans have apparently claimed that Spurs can only have two on-loan players, Football London report that this only applies to loans from other Premier League clubs.

They say that the Premier League have informed them that top flight clubs in England can have up to four players on loan from foreign clubs, so there is no problem here for Spurs to add Fernandes to their ranks.
