Report: Huge Man City transfer development could impact Harry Kane’s future

In what comes as a potential boost to Tottenham’s hopes of holding on to Harry Kane, The Daily Mail have revealed that Manchester City have agreed on personal terms with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland ahead of a summer transfer.

Tottenham managed to hold firm amidst City’s attempts to snap up Kane last summer but multiple sources have claimed over recent months (The Sun and The Guardian) that Pep Guardiola’s men could reignite their interest in England captain this summer.

Kane is also thought to be on Manchester United’s radar (The Athletic) but The Mirror stated recently that the striker is not tempted by a move to Old Trafford.

If Mail’s latest update is to be believed, City are also likely to bow out of the race for the 28-year-old.

The report claims that the Premier League table-toppers have agreed on personal terms with Haaland, who is set to become the highest-paid player in the division on more than £500,000 a week.

City are now expected to trigger the 21-year-old’s release clause which stands at £63m, with the deal potentially set to be concluded as early as next week.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is fantastic news for Spurs as I feared that City would reignite their interest in Kane as the 28-year-old seems a perfect fit for their system, given his ability to operate as a nine as well as a false nine.

I do not think Kane would be too keen on a move to Man Utd as there are no guarantees that the Erik Ten Hag project at Old Trafford will prove successful.

So, the England captain is likely to stay at Tottenham for at least one more season, but I still have my doubts over whether he would sign a new contract that does not contain a release clause.
