According to talkSPORT, Brentford now expect rumoured Tottenham target Ivan Toney to sign a new contract at the club.
It has been widely reported over the last couple of months that the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea are eyeing a move for Toney when the transfer window reopens in January (Daily Express).
On Thursday, TEAMtalk reported that Brentford were resigned to losing the 27-year-old, who had already told the club that he wants a new challenge away from the Gtech Community Stadium.
The outlet stated that the Bees had started looking for potential replacements and had identified Toulouse striker Thijs Dallinga as the man to fill the England international’s shoes.
Brentford are confident Toney will sign a new deal
This information has now been contradicted by talkSPORT, who say that the West London club are now ‘confident’ that Toney will sign a new contract at the club.
The publication adds that Thomas Frank’s men are ‘adamant’ that the centre-forward will not be sold mid-season.
Spurs Web Opinion
There could be plenty of twists and turns left in the Toney transfer saga before January. Brentford can be notoriously difficult to negotiate with, which is why I would be surprised if Spurs get involved in the race for the 27-year-old’s signature.
