Report: Injured Spurs defender is doing gym work – Not yet fit enough to train

Football.London’s Rob Guest has noted that Eric Dier was seen putting in some work in the gym at Hotspur Way in the latest training video released by the club as the centre-back continues his recovery from a groin injury.

It emerged back in May that Dier had been nursing a long-standing groin issue, which had been plaguing him since last year’s World Cup (Evening Standard).

The 29-year-old reportedly played through pain for much of the second half of last season before finally deciding to go under the knife ahead of the club’s final Premier League game of the season against Leeds United.

Dier is still not fully fit after undergoing surgery

Guest has now revealed that the centre-back reported back for pre-season on Monday, joining the group of non-international first-team stars who are being put through their paces at Hotspur Way.

However, the journalist noticed that while the England international did do some rehabilitation work in the gym, he was nowhere to be seen during the outdoor drills, which perhaps indicates that Dier is still not at 100 per cent.

Footballers that play through injuries, like Dier and Son seemingly did last season, deserve a lot of credit.

Not only are they putting their bodies on the line and coping with the discomfort, but they also have to make peace with the fact that they will cop a lot of flak from the fans for not being at their best.
