Report: Injured Spurs star expected to be out for three weeks

Football.London have revealed that Ben Davies is expected to be out of action for three weeks.

Davies was an ever-present in Antonio Conte’s back three last season and was one of the Lilywhites’ most consistent performers.

The Welshman has some competition to contend with for his place in the starting eleven this season after Spurs snapped up Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona.

However, on the whole, the former Swansea man has still been Conte’s preferred option over the Frenchman at left centre-back on most occasions this season.

Davies reportedly picked up a knee injury in Tottenham’s 2-0 loss at Sporting Lisbon last week, with the Welshman missing the club’s 6-2 win over Leicester City on Saturday.

Conte remarked ahead of the clash against the Foxes that the 29-year-old’s injury is “not serious” and that he expects him to be back in action after the international break (The Athletic).

Football.London have now revealed that Davies has sustained a hairline fracture to the bone just underneath his knee and is expected to be out of action for three weeks.

The report states that there is a ‘question mark’ over whether the defender would be fit for the North London derby on October 1.

Spurs Web Opinion

Losing Davies for the trip to the Emirates will be a blow as the Welshman would have likely got the nod to start over Lenglet in such a tough away game, where we will be on the back foot for large parts of the encounter.

Having said that, if Davies does not recover in time, it could be a great opportunity for Leglet to prove himself in a high-profile game, and show that he deserves to start regularly.
