Report: Inter Milan are attempting to beat Spurs to 26-year-old target

The print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) have revealed that Inter Milan have already begun work to sign Albert Gudmundsson, with the Serie A club determined to beat Tottenham to the Genoa star’s signature.

Over the last month, it has been reported by various Italian outlets that Tottenham are battling Juventus for Gudmundsson’s signature in the summer (Tuttosport).

Just a few days ago, La Stampa (via FcInter1908) claimed that AS Roma and Inter Milan are also keen on securing the versatile attacker, who can operate as a number ten or on the flanks.

Inter make the first move for Gudmundsson

If Gazzetta’s latest update is to be believed, Inter have already begun their efforts to secure Gudmundsson’s services, with the club said to have followed the attacker’s situation closely and aware that he will leave Genoa at the end of the season.

The report claims that a deal will not be straightforward for the Nerazzurri to complete since the Icelandic international is valued at €30m (£25.6m) and Tottenham provide tough competition for the player.

It is asserted that Ange Postecoglou’s men have already collected information about Gudmundsson but Inter are not worried about Spurs’ interest and are aiming to convince Genoa to accept a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham are keen on Gudmundsson, they should have no trouble blowing the likes of Inter, Roma and Juve out of the water financially, both in terms of the transfer fee and salary.

Moreover, Spurs also have a good relationship with Genoa after agreeing a deal for Radu Dragusin in January. However, it is not clear at the moment if the 26-year-old is near the top of the Lilywhites’ wishlist.
