Tuttomercatoweb have revealed that Inter Milan are interested in Piero Hincapie but consider a deal for the Bayer Leverkusen star to be beyond them, partly because Tottenham are also keen on the centre-back.
Hincapie has emerged as one of the best young defenders in the Bundesliga since his switch to Leverkusen 18 months ago, and the 20-year-old did his prospects no harm with the performances he delivered for Ecuador at the World Cup.
Multiple outlets (Marco Conterio and TMW) claimed last week that Antonio Conte was keen on signing the centre-back and that Tottenham were exploring the possibility of making an offer for the youngster in January.
TMW have now revealed that Hincapie is also on the radar of Inter, with Simone Inzaghi’s men said to view the Ecuadorian as a potential replacement for Alessandro Bastoni if the Italian departs.
However, it is explained that Leverkusen value the centre-back at €35m (£30.9m) while Tottenham are ‘already’ holding discussions over a deal for the youngster, which is why the player is considered ‘unattainable’ by the Serie A club.
Interestingly, Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas suggested on the Last Word on Spurs’ YouTube channel earlier this week that Spurs continue to eye Bastoni as a potential target for next summer.

If Inter are making contingency plans about losing Bastoni, that is good news for Spurs as the 23-year-old will likely be Conte’s top target for the left centre-back role next summer ahead of the likes of Hincapie and Evan Ndicka.
