Report: Inter Milan considering cashing in on rumoured Antonio Conte target

CalcioMercato have claimed that Inter Milan are considering cashing in on rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Stefan De Vrij.

De Vrij was one of the cornerstones of Antonio Conte’s backline at Inter and the Italian is alleged to have asked Spurs to make the Netherlands international the club’s top transfer target in January.

Football Insider reported last week that the 29-year-old is interested in the prospect of reuniting with Conte at Tottenham and has asked his friends in England about the North London club.

While FC Inter News claimed recently that De Vrij’s agent Mino Raiola is expected to meet with the Inter hierarchy to discuss a new contract, The Nothern Echo asserted that Raiola had reached out to Spurs, Newcastle and Everton over a potential January transfer.

CaclioMercato have now revealed that the Nerrazuri may decide not to renew De Vrij’s contract and could instead look to build the defence around Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni.

It is explained that the reigning Serie A champions could cash in on the 29-year-old in January if they receive a suitable offer.

The report asserts that Spurs are at the front of the queue for De Vrij’s signature at the moment.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think Spurs moving for De Vrij might depend on whether Eric Dier is able to sustain the current standard of his performances. The 27-year-old has been extremely impressive as a sweeper in Conte’s back three and it is certainly not beyond him to make that spot his own.
