Report: Inter Milan director flies to London to see how much Spurs want Bastoni

FCInter1908 and SportItalia journalist Tancredi Palmeri have both claimed that Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio is now in London and is expected to meet with Tottenham to discuss a potential deal for Alessandro Bastoni.

The Athletic reported a few days ago that Spurs’ pursuit of Bastoni might not be over despite the centre-back’s agent stating that his client will stay at Inter.

The report added that the Nerazzuri could change their stance if they receive a sizeable offer for the 23-year-old.

According to FCInter1908, Ausilio has now flown to London, with the Inter sporting director’s primary objective thought to be to meet with Chelsea to discuss a deal for Romelu Lukaku.

However, it is explained that Ausilio will also meet with Spurs to understand how strong Fabio Paratici’s interest in Bastoni is and how far the North London club are willing to go for the defender.

It is asserted that should Spurs put forward a proposal of €55m-€60m (£46.9m-£51.2m) for the Italy international before Paris Saint-Germain make an offer for Skriniar, Inter could accept Tottenham’s bid.

Tancredi Palmeri has also reported something similar, stating that Ausilio will meet with Spurs to discuss their interest in Bastoni as well as Lautraro Martinez.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Inter sporting director was only in London to meet with Nikola Milenkovic’s agent, with the Serie A club said to be eyeing the Serbian as a replacement for either Bastoni or Skriniar.

The fact that various outlets are reporting that Tottenham’s pursuit of Bastoni is not yet dead in the water, suggests that there is something to that. The fact that Spurs have seemingly not turned their attentions to the likes of Pau Torres yet, could be further evidence that the club believe they can still snap up the 23-year-old.
