While it seems quite likely that Gudmundsson will leave Genoa this summer after a stellar campaign, it is anyone’s guess at the moment where the forward will end up this summer.

Various outlets over the past few weeks have reported that Spurs are battling the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli for the player, with some sources suggesting that the Lilywhites might have the financial muscle to blow away the aforementioned clubs (Inter Live).

Gazzetta have now said that Inter are prepared to cash in on both right-back Denzel Dumfries and attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni in order to fund moves for Gudmundsson.

Inter Milan want to win the race for Albert Gudmundsson

It is explained that the Iceland international is one of the Nerazzurri’s ‘top targets’ this summer, with the forward seen as the kind of profile the club are missing in their frontline.

However, the issue is that Genoa are demanding a fee of around €30m-€40m (£25.5m-£34m) for Gudmundsson, which Inter cannot afford at the moment.

So Simone Inzaghi’s men have decided to listen to offers for Dumfries and Carboni and use those funds to push through a deal for the Genoa star.

With Gudmundsson verbalising his preference to remain in Serie A a few days ago, one suspects that Tottenham would have moved on and turned their attention to other alternatives.
