Report: Inter Milan have made contract decision about Spurs-linked star

CalcioMercato have revealed that Inter Milan are not prioritising offering rumoured Tottenham target Stefan De Vrij a new contract and could be open to cashing in on the centre-back in the summer.

Some sources over recent weeks have revealed that Antonio Conte wants to reunite with De Vrij at Tottenham, with the centre-back thought to be open to a switch to the Premier League club.

FC Inter News reported this week that negotiations between the defender’s entourage and Inter have been put on hold due to the club’s financial issues.

It was explained that Spurs, Newcastle and Barcelona had asked for information about a potential summer deal for the 29-year-old, who is set to enter the final 18 months of his contract at Inter.

CalcioMercato have now revealed that Inter are relaxed about the situation and are not in a hurry to offer De Vrij a new deal.

While the Nerrazuri are said to be pleased with the centre-back’s performances, they are thought to be studying the market before making a decision.

The report adds that Simone Inzaghi’s might cash in on De Vrij in the summer transfer window should they receive an offer of around €20m (£16.8m) for the player.

Spurs could consider a move for De Vrij in the summer as cover for Eric Dier should Conte decide that Joe Rodon is not part of his plans. However, a left-centre-back like De Ligt or Lenglet would likely be a bigger priority for the club in January.
