Reports from Italy suggest Inter Milan have emerged as a potential suitor for Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga, with the Serie A side preparing to add to their squad in the wake of player sales.
The 23-year-old has been at Tottenham Hotspur for his whole career, but appears to be on the peripheries of Antonio Conte’s plans. Tanganga has been linked with numerous clubs this summer as Spurs look to be open to letting the academy product leave the club.
Tanganga has primarily been rumoured to be joining AC Milan (Football Insider), but the details of a proposed loan move with a purchase clause have proved difficult to agree on for both clubs (Gazzetta dello Sport).
Former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has also shown some interest in the versatile defender (CalcioMercato), with Tanganga potentially an option in any deal Tottenham had hoped to strike for AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo (AS Roma Live).
Now though, it sounds like the blue half of Milan could be taking a look at the Spurs player, with Gianluca Di Marzio suggesting Tanganga is on Inter’s radar.
He said: “Immediately after [the sale of Cesare Casadei], the assault on [Manuel] Akanji will start. The alternative is Tanganga, also sought by Milan in recent weeks.”
It remains to be seen in what capacity Inter Milan would approach a move for Tanganga, whether it would be a loan with a view to buying at the end of the season similar to the AC Milan proposal, or a straight purchase immediately.

The talk of Tanganga leaving Spurs this summer has gone on for a while now and really needs to be resolved one way or another. Personally, with home-grown quotas to fulfil, and Tanganga’s versatility across the defence, he’s the kind of player Spurs should be keeping hold of. That is, unless there is an alternative who can offer the same flexibility to the squad while maintaining the home-grown numbers.
