Report: Inter Milan hold talks over swap deal for rumoured Spurs target

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Inter Milan have held talks with Barcelona regarding a potential swap deal for rumoured Tottenham target Franck Kessie.

Kessie has struggled for game time since joining Barca on a free transfer last summer and multiple reports have suggested that the midfielder could leave the Camp Nou this month just six months after signing for the club.

La Repubblica reported at the start of this month that Antonio Conte wants to bolster his midfielder department and added that Kessie is the Italian’s favoured option.

Spurs’ interest in the Ivorian was also backed up by Fichajes.net, who claimed two weeks ago that the former AC Milan man ‘has all the conditions’ that Conte is looking for in a midfielder.

The publication added that the Ivorian has not convinced Xavi Hernandez and is considered to be expendable by Barca.

Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that the Catalan giants have held discussions with Inter over swapping Kessie for Marcelo Brozovic, and added that Xavi is soon expected to make a decision on the 26-year-old.

Even if Spurs and Conte did hold a serious interest in Kessie, Pape Matar Sarr’s recent displays might have persuaded the North London club to reconsider an approach for the Barca star. With Sarr looking set to stay, Tottenham are pretty well-stocked in the midfield department.
