According to Sunday’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by Sempre Inter), Inter Milan are ready to part ways with Christian Eriksen this summer, just half a season after signing the midfielder.
Eriksen left Spurs to join the Nerazzurri during the January transfer window for a rumoured fee of £16.9 million, with just six months left on his contract in North London at the time.
However, the Denmark international has not made the expected impact at the San Siro and has come under some criticism for his performances, although he did start to show glimpses of his quality following the restart.
Corriere dello Sport claim that, with Antonio Conte’s side on the verge of landing Arturo Vidal from Barcelona, the Chilean is likely to be a starter in midfield along with Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella next season.
It is suggested that Eriksen is thus surplus to requirements at the club and will be sold if Inter receive an offer of around €50 million (£45m).
Spurs Web Opinion
I cannot say that I am too surprised things have not gone according to plan for Eriksen at Inter as he just does not strike me as an Antonio Conte type of player. The Dane lacks the intensity and the physicality that the Italian demands of his midfielders. It very much looks like Conte has won his power play with the Inter board and will be getting his way in the transfer market. Therefore, I would not be surprised if Eriksen leaves the club this summer.
