Report: Inter Milan may have given Spurs a boost in race for Albert Gudmundsson

SportItalia have revealed that Inter Milan are not sure if they can meet Genoa’s asking price for rumoured Tottenham target Albert Gudmundsson.

Over the last week, various Italian outlets have reported that Spurs are locked in a three-horse race for Gudmundsson’s signature with Juventus and Inter Milan.

This includes a recent update by Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) which suggested that Ange Postecoglou’s men may have an advantage as the Genoa star is dreaming of a switch to the Premier League.

The outlet asserted that the 26-year-old is hoping that the Lilywhites come knocking on the door for him sooner rather than later.

Inter Milan are unsure about Gudmundsson fee

SportItalia have now reported that Inter reached out to Genoa over recent days to speak about a potential deal for Gudmundsson.

It is explained that the Nerazzurri are admirers of the Iceland international and wanted to understand the ‘feasibility of the operation’. Simone Inzaghi’s men are thought to have been put off by the cost of Genoa’s requests, which they found to be excessive.

However, the publication adds that Inter might revisit the deal later and potentially look to bring down Gudmundsson’s price by offering some players to Genoa as part of the deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Financially, Tottenham are certainly going to be able to outbid both Juventus and Inter for Gudmundsson while the good relationship the North London club have with Genoa could also be of help in getting this deal over the line.

Spurs could also potentially use Djed Spence as a bargaining tool and offer the right-back to the Serie A club for a cheaper fee than the initially agreed-upon option to buy.
