Report: Inter Milan may need to sacrifice alleged Conte and Spurs target

Multiple publications in Italy are now reporting that Inter Milan might have to cash in on Tottenham target Alessandro Bastoni this summer.

Alasdair Gold said on his YouTube channel this week that both Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte adore Bastoni while The Telegraph’s Matt Law reported that the 23-year-old is one of the six players the North London club are set to go after this summer.

If reports emanating from Italy are to be believed, Inter would be open to selling the centre-back.

The print edition of Corriere dello Sport (23/05/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) have now claimed that Inter will have to make a profit of around €60-€70m (£51.2m-£59.7m) and reduce their wages by 10 to 15 per cent this summer.

The report states that Bastoni’s name is in the ‘front row’ when it comes to an ‘important sacrifice’, with Spurs said to be ‘ready for the assault’ to land the defender.

This is also backed up by Sport Mediaset, who report that ‘at least one valuable piece will have to be sold’ by the Nerazzurri this summer.

They name Bastoni as one of the players the Serie A club could cash in on and add that the centre-back is of interest to Tottenham and Manchester City.

Bastoni has shades of Vertonghen about him. Not only is he a solid defender but he is very comfortable on the ball and is capable of driving into space if it opens up.

The 23-year-old would be perfect for the left centre-back role in Conte’s back three and so, one would expect Spurs to push hard to land him this summer.
