Report: Inter Milan may target surprise move for Tottenham midfielder

According to a report from Italian publication CalcioMercatoWeb, Inter Milan may be set to make a surprise move for Tottenham Hotspur youngster Oliver Skipp.

Skipp came through the Spurs academy and after developing in the various youth squads at the club, has gone on to make 60 first-team appearances (Transfermarkt).

The central midfielder enjoyed a successful loan spell with Norwich City, helping the Canaries seal promotion from the Championship in the 2020/21 season with 47 appearances for the club (Transfermarkt).

The 22-year-old is thought to be rated very highly by those associated with Tottenham, but has struggled with injuries over the last 18 months. Skipp missed the second half of last season, and has managed just nine appearances this term (Transfermarkt).

Alasdair Gold revealed on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast that many expect Skipp to become a ‘big, big Premier League player,’ and he also claimed Skipp regularly wins training and fitness drills at Hotspur Way.

It was recently suggested by Dan Kilpatrick however, that Antonio Conte believes he can upgrade on Oliver Skipp in the Spurs squad. And now, it seems there is a club waiting to snap him up should the North London side decide to let him go.

CMW claims that if Spurs do indeed manage to sign Franck Kessie from Barcelona, that could open the door for Inter to swoop in and take Skipp off their hands.

Inter are believed to hold an interest in Kessie too, but should they fail in their pursuit, they would look to “fish right from Tottenham” and sign Skipp instead.

Spurs Web Opinion

I really hope we do not let Oliver Skipp go. He’s the best young player we have produced since Harry Kane and we would be foolish to let such a talent escape the club like we always seem to do. We don’t need to sign any central midfielders right now, we have enough depth there already and Skipp should be given more game time.
