Report: Inter Milan star wishes to stay at club despite Antonio Conte’s interest

TuttoMercatoWeb have revealed that, despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Nicolo Barella wants to stay at Inter Milan.

Barella has emerged as one of the best midfielders in Italian football thanks to his performances for club and country over recent years.

The 25-year-old has not been in particularly good form over recent months but his stock remains high.

Antonio Conte would certainly be well aware of Barella’s talent, with the midfielder’s displays being crucial to the Nerrazuri’s title triumph last season.

TMW have now revealed that the Inter star has a host of admirers in the Premier League, with Spurs being one of them.

The report claims that Conte would like to reunite with Barella at Spurs while Liverpool have also enquired about the Italy international’s availability.

It is asserted that Inter value the former Cagliari man at €60m (£50.5m) ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, the report adds that despite the interest he is generating, Barella’s preference is to stay at the San Siro ‘for a long time’.

Spurs Web Opinion

As we saw with Lukaku last summer, Inter are certainly not hesitant of selling players against their wishes if they receive the right offer. So, Barella would be available for sale at the right price.

The 25-year-old would be an excellent fit for Conte’s set up but there will likely be a long queue of clubs after the midfielder and I doubt Spurs would get involved in a bidding war for him.
