Report: Inter Milan star’s agent has contacted Spurs regarding potential move

The Nothern Echo have reported that Stefan De Vrij’s agent has reached out to Tottenham Hotspur and two other Premier League clubs to discuss a potential transfer.

De Vrij’s consistent displays in the heart of Antonio Conte’s solid three-man defence at Inter last season played a crucial role in their historic Scudetto triumph.

According to reports, the Italian has allegedly asked Spurs to make the Netherlands international the club’s top transfer target in January.

Football Insider claimed this week that the 29-year-old is interested in the prospect of reuniting with Conte at Tottenham and has asked his friends in England about the North London club.

De Vrij’s contract at the San Siro runs out in the summer of 2023 and according to FC Inter News’ latest update, the defender’s agent Mino Riola is expected to meet with the Nerazzurri hierarchy in the coming days to begin talks over a new deal.

However, this information has been contradicted by The Northern Echo, who suggest that De Vrij’s representatives have already sounded out Premier League clubs regarding a transfer.

Apart from Spurs, it is asserted that the 29-year-old’s entourage have also notified Everton and Newcastle about the defender’s potential availability.

Spurs Web Opinion

Signing De Vrij would make a lot more sense for Conte and Spurs than Romagnoli or Skriniar. The Dutchman would bring a lot of experience to the backline and has proven his leadership credentials.

He is also perfectly adapted to playing as the central sweeper in a Conte back three – a position that Spurs currently do not have a natural fit for.
