Tottenham may have been handed a boost in their rumoured pursuit of Marcel Brozovic, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that Inter Milan are not ready to meet the midfielder’s contract demands.
Inter Milan need to raise a sizeable sum in the transfer window to offset their financial losses and it was previously reported that Tottenham could look to raid the Serie A champions for multiple players this summer.
Inter Live suggested last month that Brozovic was one of the players the Lilywhites were trying to sign on a cut-price deal.
The Croat international is now into the final year of his contract at the San Siro and if Gazzetta’s latest update is to be believed, Inter’s efforts to extend his stay are not proving to be straightforward.
It is asserted that Brozovic is demanding an annual salary of €6m (£5.1m) which represents a significant increase over his current salary.
The Nerazzurri are allegedly not prepared to pay that amount, especially since they are trimming their wage bill.
The report explains that the club might be forced to cash in on Brozovic this summer if a compromise cannot be reached.

If there is truth to reports suggesting that Paratici wants to sign a central midfielder, then one would assume that the club will be following Brozovic’s situation closely.
The opportunity to sign a player of the 28-year-old’s quality and experience for a cut-price fee might be viewed by Paratici as too good a deal to turn down.
