Will Lankshear thrived in pre-season

19-year-old striker, Will Lankshear, had one of the most impressive PL2 seasons for any player to date, picking up personal accolades in the way of the PL2 Golden Boot and Player of the Season, as well as lifting both the league and play-off trophies. (Premier League)

Lankshear started his pre-season with the academy but was then immediately drafted into the first-team with Football.London reporting that Lankshear was one of the most impressive strikers in those early days.

An impressive cameo against Hearts, which saw Lankshear grab Spurs’ second goal, meant that the academy starlet joined the first team on their pre-season tour, continuing to impress and even adding to his goal tally against the K-League All-Star team.

Loans for Scarlett and Veliz have cleared the path for Lankshear

Following his impressive performances in pre-season, Will Lankshear is set to remain a member of the first-team squad for Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou, according to George Sessions.

The 19-year-old striker is believed to have surpassed Alejo Veliz and Dane Scarlett in the pecking order in pre-season with Veliz and Scarlett subsequently exiting on loans to Espanyol and Oxford United respectively.

Postecoglou’s current decision is that Lankshear will stay, although that information has been caveated by George Sessions who did state that the forward could still be loaned out on deadline day if plans change.

Spurs Web opinion

Will Lankshear is one of the brightest stars in Tottenham’s latest crop of extremely exciting youth prospects, but it is no surprise that Lankshear, alongside Mikey Moore, is one of the few academy players to stay with his pathway now clear,

Lankshear also possesses plenty of power and strength which makes his skill set very transferrable from youth to senior level.

Tottenham fans may start to get excited by Will should he be handed chances either in the Europa League or domestic cup competitions as the forward has a proven record of finding the back of the net and grasping opportunities when they arise, as proven by pre-season.
