Report: It will take ‘dizzying offer’ for Spurs to sign midfielder this summer

Sport have now claimed that Barcelona will not allow Franck Kessie to join Tottenham Hotspur on a discount in the summer, with the Premier League club needing to make a big offer to sign the midfielder.

Over the last week and a half, multiple publications have talked up the possibility of Kessie joining Spurs in the summer.

Fichajes.net reported on 27 February that the Ivorian is one of the players who is expected to be in the shop window in the summer and suggested that Antonio Conte is keen on bringing the midfielder to North London.

The report claimed that the Lilywhties could even start talks with Barca over the player in the coming days.

This was followed by a report in TuttoMercatoWeb a few days ago, which suggested that the Catalan giants might be prepared to cash in on Kessie in order to make way for their top midfield target – Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

However, Sport now paint a different picture, claiming that it will not be easy to lure the former AC Milan man away from Camp Nou.

The publication also notes Tottenham’s interest in the midfielder, revealing that Antonio Conte’s side also ‘knocked on the door’ for the player in January.

However, the report adds that with Kessie now having a much more prominent role at Barcelona, it is not clear whether he will be in the shop window in the summer.

It is asserted that it could take a ‘very dizzying offer’ to ‘change’ the club’s stance and convince Xavi Hernandez’s men to cash in on the 26-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Kessie continues playing regularly until the end of the season, he will likely not come cheap.

However, given Barca’s financial issues, they have to offload players to raise money for new signings and to make space in the wage bill, which is why I expect them to be receptive to offers for the Ivorian.
