Report: Italian club believe ‘luxury’ player on Spurs’ books would be good signing

Jan Vertonghen is believed to be set to join Inter Milan this summer when his contract expires at Tottenham, according to Corriere dello Sport (relayed by Sport Witness).

The Belgian has been tipped to depart North London this summer after seven years at the club, with a reported four clubs interested in bringing the 33-year-old to Italy.

AS Roma, Inter, Napoli and Fiorentina have all reportedly shown interest in the centre-back with his contract set to expire at the end of the month.

In their print edition on Monday, the Italian outlet claimed that, ‘for Vertonghen, the cycle at Tottenham is about to end after eight years’. The report added that Vertonghen is a ‘luxury free agent who remains strongly on the Nerazzurri’s radars’.

Although it is reported that Vertonghen has not yet made a decision on who he will join, it is understood that he is likely focusing on a move to Italy this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Vertonghen has been an incredible servant for the club, and for that, I think we all will wish him the best for the future. With that in mind, Inter would be a great move for him. A huge club, a great city, a reunion with Christian Eriksen and the potential to play Champions League football still – it makes a lot of sense.
