Report: Italian club closing in on signing Spurs player permanently – Might not pay a fee

Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Hugo Lloris is now negotiating a contract with Lazio after Tottenham agreed to release the goalkeeper.

It has been widely reported since the start of the summer that Lloris is expected to leave Tottenham this summer following eleven years at the club (The Sun).

News of Lazio’s interest in the Frenchman first came to light last week when RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins claimed that the Serie A club were eyeing a move for the experienced Spurs star.

The journalist suggested despite having a year left to run on his deal, the former Spurs captain is expected to be released from his contract due to the ‘service rendered’ to the club.

He added that the 36-year-old was already in talks with the Italian club, who had positioned themselves to secure his signature.

Lloris has now given the green light to Lazio

If Di Marzio’s latest update is to be believed, Lloris has now given his approval to join Lazio.

The report asserts that Tottenham have agreed to terminate the goalkeeper’s contract, with the former Lyon man now in talks with the last season’s Serie A runners-up over a contract.

Di Marzio adds that ‘conditions are closing’ between the parties on a potential two-year deal for the former France captain.

Lazio would be a great move for Hugo if it goes through, given that the club are in the Champions League. Maurizio Sarri is building a strong until at the Stadio Olimpico and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that they could challenge Napoli for the Scudetto this season.
