Report: Italian club contact Spurs defender’s agent ahead of potential offer

According to reports from Italy, Lazio have identified Danny Rose as their main left-back target this summer.

Rose has started to recapture his form for Steve Bruce’s side since the restart of the campaign but Newcastle do not have a permanent option to buy the full-back when his loan deal expires at the end of the season (Daily Mail).

Corriere Dello Sport report that Lazio are ready to swoop for the defender and have already contacted Rose’s agent to understand the margins of the negotiations.

The Serie A side are said to be keen on the England international as they are not convinced by their current options, Senad Lulic and Jordan Lukaku.

The club are reportedly on the lookout for a player with Champions League experience and it is said that Rose fits the profile which they are seeking.

However, despite contacting the England international’s representative, it is revealed that Lazio are yet to make an firm offer for the 30-year-old.

Rose is out of contract in North London next summer and has previously claimed that he plans to run down his contract and leave on a free transfer after being told by Daniel Levy that he will not be offered a new deal (Evening Standard).

I cannot see Rose wanting to go to Lazio given he has reiterated his desire to play up North. Completing a permanent move to Newcastle would be Rose’s best option in the summer.

However, Daniel Levy will be hoping the left-back keeps up his current run of form until the end of the season so that he can get a bidding war going for the 29-year-old in the summer.
