Report: Italian club make contact over interest in signing Tottenham player

Tottenham Hotspur have already seen one of their stars make the move from White Hart Lane to Inter Milan in 2020, but could we see another make the switch?

Spurs and Inter came to an agreement for the transfer of Christian Eriksen late in the January transfer window, after the Great Dane spent seven seasons at the club.

The Italian giants are now said to be interested in reuniting the midfield man with his former Spurs teammate, Jan Vertonghen, in the summer (Standard).

Vertonghen, much like Eriksen, entered the January window with just six months left on his current Spurs contract.

This means that he is now able to talk to foreign clubs about a pre-contract that would see him move on a free transfer in the summer.

The 32-year-old has seemingly drifted out of Jose Mourinho’s consistent starting XI in recent weeks and Inter have now made contact with the experienced Belgian defender.

Spurs Web Opinion:

The deal makes sense for both Inter and Jan himself. I wish that he could leave under better circumstances, but we have seen a sharp decline in the past year and he is no longer up to the pace of the Premier League. Nothing but respect for him.
