Report: Ivan Perisic is now ‘one step away’ from sealing Tottenham transfer

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Ivan Perisic is ‘one step away’ from sealing a move to Tottenham while Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that the Croat ‘will soon say yes definitively’ to join the North London club.

Perisic’s contract with Inter Milan runs out this summer, and according to Romano, Tottenham have been in talks with the experienced wide-man since Monday.

The journalist suggests that the 33-year-old is now ready to accept Tottenham’s two-year contract and is just waiting to communicate his desire to Inter, in order to seal the transfer.

This is backed up by Di Marzio, who claims that Spurs have agreed to meet Perisic’s contract demands by offering him a two-year deal. He claims that the move has accelerated over recent hours and that the player will soon say ‘yes’ to the move.

The journalist adds that Spurs are now waiting on a final answer from the former Bayern Munich man and that Antonio Conte’s men are growing in confidence about their chances of closing the deal.

If we do sign Perisic, that will signal a big change in the club’s transfer policy. Since his arrival last summer, Paratici has preferred to sign young players with a high resale value.

Signing Perisic would buck that trend and would demonstrate that the club are prepared to back Conte’s judgement and help the Italian build a squad that can challenge next season.

The fact that the Croat is available on a free transfer means that there is not much risk involved, especially since his reported wage demands are not excessive.
