Report: Jack Clarke is being targeted by two PL clubs one year after Spurs exit

The Sun have revealed that Brentford and Crystal Palace are set to battle it out for former Tottenham winger Jack Clarke this summer.

Clarke signed for Spurs from Leeds United back in the summer of 2019 in a deal worth £10m and the winger went on to make just four first-team appearances for the Lilywhites.

He was loaned out to Sunderland during the second half of last season and played a valued part in helping the club win promotion back to the Championship, with the Black Cats signing the 22-year-old permanently last summer.

Clarke has been an absolute revelation in the Championship this season, with his 11 goals and 12 assists across all competitions helping Tony Mowbray’s men clinch the final playoff spot.

The Sun have now revealed that the former Spurs star’s displays this season have caught the attention of both Brentford and Palace.

It is revealed that the Eagles have tracked Clarke for a long time and have now been joined in the race for his signature by the Bees, with the winger’s ability to run with the ball from deep said to appeal to both clubs.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Sunderland do not win promotion to the top flight, I have no doubt that Clarke would be poached by a Premier League club in the summer.

However, I personally think it might be in the youngster’s interest to get another year of regular football at the Stadium of Light before making the step up to a bigger club.
